Michael Powell, B.S.I.S.E., J.D.

Michael Powell is a founding partner with Kaila, Brock, Bagwell & Powell, LLC. He graduated from the Georgia State University College of Law in Atlanta, GA in May, 2006, and is licensed to practices in the State of Georgia. Mr. Powell's law practice concentrates in debtor's rights and loss mitigation. Mr. Powell has extensive experience in negotiating, on behalf of debtors, for commercial and residential loan work-outs and advises individual and corporate clients on debtor/creditor law issues.

Michael received a Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Michael is also currently working towards another degree in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Michael began his career in the commercial real estate group of Morris, Hardwick, Schneider LLP and gained invaluable experience in commercial real estate transactions and title insurance issues. In January, 2009 became a founding partner of Kaila, Brock, Bagwell & Powell, LLC.

In addition, Michael is a founding Board Member for KIPP: STRIVE, a non-profit charter school opening up in Fall of 2009 in Southwest Atlanta. Michael advises the other board members as to real estate and legal matters.


Sam Bagwell, J.D.

Sam Bagwell is a founding partner with Kaila, Brock, Bagwell & Powell, LLC and an active member of the State Bar of Georgia. Sam is an experienced litigator and has always enjoyed spending time in a court room in front of a judge and jury where he has acted as attorney and advocate for a wide variety of clients.

Sam received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Georgia School of Law and before that he earned his B.B.A. in Real Estate from the University of Georgia. Sam served as a licensed Georgia real-estate Agent from 2001 - 2003. Sam has served as both an assistant County Solicitor in Forsyth County and as assistant District Attorney in Hall and Dawson Counties. He has litigated criminal and civil cases in State and Superior Courts. Sam has also worked doing Real Estate closings, Contract disputes, in addition to other types of legal actions. In addition, Sam was a founding director of CEMPROC, the Center for Mediation, Peace, and the Resolution of Conflict, which began as a small conflict resolution non-profit corporation in Cumming, Georgia, and which has grown to become an international non-profit corporation with conflict resolution classes and programs in Georgia, Washington, D.C., and Ecuador.

Rajeev Kaila is a founding partner at Kaila, Brock, Bagwell & Powell, LLC. He is a current and active member of the State Bar of Georgia. He currently focuses his legal practice in Real Estate Transactions and Litigation, Business Law & Creditor/Debtor Rights. Rajeev has always been an entrepreneur at heart and enjoys helping business people in the community form entities and structure their businesses to minimize tax liability as well as general liability. During the past several years, he has become increasingly interested in the Creditor/Debtor rights, including the areas of Loan Modification and restructuring, Credit Repair and Consumer as well as Business Bankruptcy.

Rajeev received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Georgia School of Law and prior to that received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Before joining Kaila, Brock, Bagwell & Powell, LLC, Rajeev was founder and president of Kaila-Bagwell, LLP, a full-service Georgia law firm as well as LifeCharts, Inc., a successful internationally software company. In his spare time, Rajeev sits on the board of Nazar Properties, LLC, a multi-national real-estate investment firm that owns property in three countries throughout the western hemisphere. Recently, Rajeev has headed up an effort within Nazar Properties to improve the living conditions of underprivileged citizens who live in some of the poorest areas of metro-Atlanta.

Rajeev was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada and grew up in Toronto, Ontario, Canada before moving to Atlanta. He has basic speaking skills in French, Hindi and Punjabi. In his spare time he's an aspiring golfer and enjoys traveling to exotic locations around the world.
